So who is Doug and what does it mean to be a F.O.D.? Doug is Mr. Douglas Brindley owner of BBV. He is a man of integrity and generosity to our community. A father and husband to a beautiful family. A man who I have seen provide opportunity to those who needed it most and asked nothing in return. Doug believed in me when I needed it most. When an email came across my desk today that had F.O.D. in the signature line I knew the best was in front of me. I count my lucky stars and have said a prayer of thanks more than once for having Doug as a friend. There are others in this great little community who have shown us here at The OBX Running Company the same care and I will recognize them, but today I was inspired by those 3 little letters to say Thank you Doug. Thank you for believing in me and thank you for being my friend. How much time does it take to plan a race? If you had to look at it in the hours of a day, I would say "All of them." At The OBX Running Company we strive to bring you professional racing in a fast, fun and relaxed, family friendly environment. Walkers are always welcome. Some of our courses are on the beach, We suggest an appropriate beach stroller if your bringing the baby. Try Just for The Beach Rentals. Chef Mike from The Shore Chef is always waiting with a smile at the finish line with a continental breakfast. Our chip timing support with Virginia Based Mettle Events brings you accurate streaming live results, finish line video and digital finisher certificates. All of our events help to raise funds for local charities.
Quality t-shirt's and unique trophy's & finisher medals help to round out your event. Getting that all down on paper and breathing life into it takes some time, but maybe not all of it. I'm gonna call it a day here, go hug my kids, tell my sweetheart I love her and maybe jump on the bike for my own training. I look forward to racing with you. Matt Costa - Race Director |
